Lecture by Sh. Laxman Gayakwad

IIDS in association with Dalit Lekhak Sangh organised a lecture in Sahitya Akademi, New Delhi on 24th December, 2009.The lecture was delivered by Sh. Laxman Gayakwad, Dalit writer & Activist. In this event Surya Multipurpose Society, Maharashtra conferred Literary Award-2009 to Dr. Suraj Badtiya and working paper on Caste-based discrimination in South Asia in Hindi language was also released.

Ambedkar Memorial Lecture

IIDS organised the Ambedkar Memorial Lecture on 3rd November 2008 at SSS Auditorium, JNU, New Delhi.The lecture, entitled “The Situation of Dalits and Other Marginalized Communities in the Indian Society” was delivered by Christopher Jaffrelot, a well-known French Scholar.Several distinguished guests were present at the event from academics and public life. In his lecture Jaffrelot shed light on different strategies that Dr. Ambedkar experimented with, during public life to work for amelioration of ex-untouchable communities of India.
